Set in 2.5 ha of land with acacia, coconut, mango, cashew, and tamarind trees - between Lamu Town and Shela Village on Lamu Island, just off the Kenyan coast - Shamba Viking offers you a rare place of tranquillity and space from which to explore the uniqueness of Lamu.
Our lodge or guesthouse is climate adapted to be eco-friendly. It cross-ventilates for comfort - uses solar power towards lighting and hot water, and we only use separation-based sanitation.
Lamu Island and its surrounding waters offer a multitude of activities to indulge in, day and night. We can tailor-make your stay if you wish, and our Crew will be at your service and provide you with all from Dhow boating to culinary treats based on traditional dishes created with local ingredients. Cultural sites of Lamu, like Thakwa Ruins, offer historical and architectual perspectives of Lamu culture, dating back 500-600 years.
Getting to Lamu from Nairobi by air may be considered unadventurous, but there are other, combo, modes to and from the island with opportunities to make your trip more adventurous.
